DJ Maurice

DJ Maurice started his career as a resident DJ in the Après-Skihut in Rotterdam. For many years this was the leading party place of Holland. He was also the mind behind and creator of the Après-Skihut CDs, awarded with over 10 gold records. The Après-Skihut CDs are still among the best-selling compilation CDs in the Netherlands and have sold over 1 million copies! Maurice himself produced many of the songs on these albums; he also produces CDs for the international market, like South Africa and the other Benelux countries.

DJ Maurice is easily identified by his own style, consisting of a fast-alternating mixture of many different kinds of music. This way, anyone will hear their preferred songs soon enough, without having to wait too long, ensuring an excellent party throughout by playing a variation of House music and R&B, Dutch Party music and Dance Classics. It is for good reason that many times he has been labelled the #1 Party DJ in the Netherlands!

In 2001, Maurice together with his friend DJ Yorit, produced the record Remember (Summerlove). Even though this record wasn’t a very big hit in the Netherlands, it turned out a world selling record. Great performances were staged in countries like Russia, Portugal and Romania, and in almost all countries in Eastern Europe, Latin America, Canada, Scandinavia and Southern Europe the record was a great success. It was in 2006 that it hit #1 in the Spanish charts with the artist David Tavare! In 2008 famous US singer Akon covered this song and released it as “Right now”. Maurice also was granted a part of Akon’s copyright of this world hit.

In December 2003, Maurice came up with a pumpin’ dance remix of Heb Je Even Voor Mij (A dutch number 1 hit by Holland’s most popular singer, Frans Bauer). Maurice’s remix stayed in the top 10 of the Mega Top 50 chart for weeks. It was also high up in the Top 40, the Pepsi Chart and was attributed #1 in the Partyhits top 15. ‘Heb je even voor mij’ was succeeded by the feel-good dance record I Kiss Your Lips. The totally awesome video of this record was shown on TV-channel The Box for months in a row.

DJ Maurice is a ‘hot’ producer. Many of his songs have been played endlessly in clubs for a very long time now; songs like Hands Up (Baby, Hands Up), Calabria (Dirty Laundry remake), Good To Go 2005, Mr.Vain, Let’s get louder, Alane and a large variety of House music records. Without a doubt Maurice’s records rule many a night out; these past few years he has been responsible for the production of more than 300 amazing party hits! You will always find Maurice somewhere in the Top 100 charts in various (co)productions. In 2008 he again came with another top 10 hit called “Carnaval de Paris” which was one of the 2 most played Football tracks during the European Championship Soccer. This song was also Dance Smash on Holland’s biggest radio station radio 538.

As a result of his success, Maurice has been working with many well known Dutch entertainers such as: Gordon, Wolter Kroes, Arne Jansen, Starkoo, John Spencer, Gerard Joling, Bonnie St. Clair, Peter Beense, Trafassi, Huub Hangop, Zware Jongens, Ome Henk, Rob Ronalds, De Sjonnies, Flair and many more.

For many years now, Maurice has been performing abroad; you may have seen him in Gran Canaria, Pacha (Salou), Blanes, Llorett del Mar, Mallorca, Calella in Spain. Also France, Curacao, Turkye, Russia, Rumenia, various clubs in Austria, Portugal or Switzerland among others.

In 2006 DJ Maurice introduced the Après-Ski Safari! After the roaring success of the Après-Skihut albums, Maurice has produced his own Party Mix CD! DJ Maurice Après Ski Safari, a music CD with a free bonus DVD featuring over 70 minutes of music and images of the most excellent party- and après-ski entertainers. Besides familiar videos, there are summery holiday images, delicious winter sports scenes and recordings of performances. In 2007 he started with his own road tour connected with this cd and in 2009 the first exclusive parties were given in Holland which attracts thousands of people.

In 2008 Maurice started a booking agency called Showbureau, also Lastminutedj.nl is a part of this company in which dj’s can subscribe to and may help out clubs who needs a DJ on last minute base. (for example due to illness of a resident dj) This is very successful because many dj’s rather work then sit at home in the weekend.

DJ Maurice also started a new career under a new alias. 2 releases are planed in the summer of 2010. Under this name he will play eclectic sounds(Club & R&B) but without the dutch party music.
